OAKLAND, CA.- The Ellington, Oakland ’s newest condominium building in Jack London Square , has completed an ambitious installation of local artists inside the property. The art will remain a part of the Ellington’s permanent collection. Works from individuals such as Peter Foucault and Daniel Healy are prominently displayed throughout the common areas of the 134-unit building.

“The Ellington condominiums are set in the heart of Jack London Square ,” said Oz Erickson , President of Emerald Fund and developer of The Ellington. “From the beginning we have tried to convey that to live here is to be at the epicenter of one of the most dynamic emerging art, food and cultural environments in the Bay Area. We feel there is no better way to demonstrate that than to allow our walls to become gallery space for local artists.”

The Ellington hired Brook Baird, Director of BB Art in San Francisco to oversee the installation. Baird teamed up with two Oakland businesses Blankspace Gallery and Object D'Art to form The Bay Area Visual Arts Network (BayVAN) to complete the work. The Ellington will also be participating in upcoming Friday Art Walks, monthly art walks dedicated to increasing awareness of and participation in the arts in Oakland.

"BayVAN was delighted to have the opportunity to curate The Ellington's permanent art collection,” said Baird. “In all, twelve amazing local artists are represented throughout the building. We hope that the collection will be a source of pleasure and pride for the building's residents and that it will encourage viewers to get out and explore all the great art that Oakland has to offer."
