LOS ANGELES, CA. Bonhams & Butterfields will offer Fine European Furniture and Decorative Arts on September 14, 2009 in Los Angeles. The eclectic auction will offer a global array of works, showcasing pieces from the 16th through 20th centuries with a focus on English, French, Italian, Spanish and German property. Highlights from the 300-lot sale will include furnishing and decorative arts as well as a range clocks and silver by prominent makers.

The marquee lot of the fall auction is a Louis XV/XVI transitional gilt bronze mounted marquetry commode, circa 1775. Property of an English collector, the piece is stamped F. BAYER and is estimated to bring $30,000-40,000 on September 14th.

Also on offer during the sale is a private collection of clocks. Highlights include an unusual George III scarlet lacquered musical bracket clock made for the Turkish market. Expected to fetch $20,000-30,000, the stunning late 18th century timepiece is inscribed George Prior, London.

Additional highlights from the fall auction will include: a Louis XVI gilt bronze and porcelain mounted parquetry inlaid bonheur du jour, stamped G. DESTER JME, circa 1780 (est. $12,000-18,000); a handsome French gilt and silvered bronze and rouge marble mantel clock, late 19th century (est. $6,000-8,000) and a Regency parcel gilt and rosewood cabinet, in the manner of C.H. Tatham, first quarter 19th century (est. $7,000-9,000); and a large gilt bronze mounted Sevres style porcelain centerpiece, circa 1900 from the estate of Constance G. Zahorik (est. $1,500-2,000) as well as a collection of blue and white and polychrome decorated Delft earthenware from the estate of N. Joseph and Jeanette Ross (estimates range from $1000-4000).
