LONDON. DIY Regeneration is an artist’s project based in King’s Cross, bringing together artists, architects, local residents and workers to investigate and record experiences of living in one of the most notorious and rapidly changing areas of London. The King's Cross redevelopment area is one of the largest inner-city regeneration schemes in Europe, confronting residents and users with large-scale changes and top-down politics. DIY Regeneration intends to uncover ways to affect change from the grassroots level.

Over the summer, DIY Regeneration is looking at the changes that are initiated and undertaken by individuals and groups on a day-to-day basis. The project is collecting tips and tricks on how to regenerate the area using local, bottom-up initiatives - often running parallel to the vast architectural and social changes brought about by the developers and authorities.

The results will be transposed into specially designed posters that will be displayed around King’s Cross, as well as in a special exhibition in the Artists’ Studio at Camden Arts Centre.

All activities stemming from the project will also be documented in a publication, detailing the full range of ideas put forward, as well as the activities of the various groups and associations based in the area. The project will act as a snapshot of grassroots activity and opinion in the King’s Cross area and perhaps as a catalyst, bringing people together to produce change.
