LONDON.- White Cube announced Tracey Emin as this year’s winner of the ACE Award for Art in a Religious Context. Art and Christianity Enquiry (ACE) is the UK’s leading educational charity in the field of Visual Art and Religion. Since 2003, it has awarded projects that have highlighted religious faith in art, design and architecture.

Emin was nominated for her work "For You", commissioned by Liverpool Cathedral, and exhibited as part of the 2008 European Capital of Culture Year. "For You" is a pink neon, written in Emin’s handwriting, with the words "I felt you and I knew you loved me". Emin subsequently donated the work to Liverpool Cathedral. Liverpool Cathedral also received the first Liverpool Chamber of Commerce Arts Award for this work in 2008.

Born in London in 1963, Tracey Emin became known in the field of Young British Artists (YBA). She gained a degree of notoriety with her uncompromising personal works. In her home country Tracey Emin is a celebrity. Her works are being collected by famous personalities and she is a welcome guest on parties and an interviewee on TV.

She studied at the Maidstone College of Art and am Royal College of Art in London. From 1998 on she had major exhibitions in Amsterdam, New York, Sydney, Tokyo, München and Istanbul. She became a member of the Royal Academy of Arts in 2007, and in the same year, represented Britain at the Venice Biennale.
