NEW YORK, NY.- The work of 24 internationally recognized and emerging artists will be presented in New York this November in 1001 colors: Contemporary Art from Iran. Held in a temporary exhibition space on the Bowery from November 2 to November 22, 2009, the exhibition illuminates the development and breadth of contemporary Iranian art, a subject that has been explored with increasing frequency in museum and gallery exhibitions in Europe and the United States. 1001 colors documents and investigates some of the many forms of artistic expression now taking place in Iran. The 50 works of art reflect a variety of formal and social concerns in paintings that range stylistically from representational to expressionist and almost pure abstraction.
