Katonah Art Center Hosts Faculty Art Exhibit 2011
Theresa Bates's The Magical Illusion of Self.
KATONAH, NY.- Back by popular demand! The Katonah Art Center holds its second annual Faculty Art Exhibit this January.

Loren Anderson, KAC’s founder and director, is proud to bring back this show this year. “I am pleased and proud to mount the second annual Faculty Art Exhibit. Few Art Centers have as distinguished a faculty as we do. . Not only are they great artists, but they are also great teachers.” KAC director, David Hughes, adds “The amount of talent gathered in this show is truly inspiring both to professionals and to students.”

Wende Caporale, whom The New York Times called “a leader in the field of children’s portraiture,” exhibits several of her pieces. Acclaimed artist Joe Tomasini, whose painting graces the cover of the Exhibit’s invitation, exhibits his work. Mixed-media artist Theresa Bates, whose work has been exhibited extensively throughout the Northeast, including the Katonah Museum of Art, is represented as well. Other notable artists to exhibit their work include portrait artist Laurel Boeck, whose recent commissioned portrait of Retired Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert is hanging in the Capitol Building; pastel artist, Jock MacRae, who taught Loren Anderson, KAC’s founder, when she was thirteen and was instrumental in the founding of the Center; and clay artist, Sue Clayton, whose work is also pictured on the Exhibit’s invitation, and who calls herself “a lifetime student of Jock MacRae.”

Both Ms. Anderson and Mr. Hughes are established artists as well as directors of the Center. Their work is also included in the Exhibit.

Admission is free, and the artwork is for sale. All of the artists will be happy to discuss their work and to answer questions about the Katonah Art Center and their classes.
