MOCA GA Working Artist Project Winner, Micah Stansell, to Premier The Water and The Blood Exhibition
In addition to moving images and sound, Stansell's work includes a water component.
ATLANTA, GA.- The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA) announces the opening of the second installment in the series of the 2010/2011 Working Artist Project exhibitions - Micah Stansell: The Water and The Blood. There will be an opening reception for Stansell's exhibition on Friday, Aug. 26, from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. There will be an Artist Talk by Stansell on Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. with a reception beforehand at 6:30 p.m. The Artist Talk is free to the public. Micah Stansell: The Water and The Blood runs Aug. 27 - Dec. 3, 2011.

ABOUT THE WATER AND THE BLOOD EXHIBIT
In addition to moving images and sound, Stansell's work includes a water component. The artist states, "This is a multi-channel video and sound installation with some very analogue elements of interactivity. My hope is that it is an experiential exhibition."

MOCA GA Director Annette Cone-Skelton added, "We are excited to see another
Georgia artist benefit directly from the Working Artist Project award program. Micah Stansell's work embodies what this program is about, giving much-needed aid to vital local artists and helping them realize their full potential."

MICAH STANSELL
Micah Stansell is an artist and filmmaker who lives in College Park, Ga. He received an MFA in Digital Filmmaking from Georgia State University. Stansell's work has been screened in galleries and film festivals across the United States and as far away as Beijing, China. He has also worked as a cinematographer with artists on projects and installations that have been exhibited locally and internationally.

THE WORKING ARTIST PROJECT
The Working Artist Project is an award program that was developed by MOCA GA and is funded by a major grant from The Charles Loridans Foundation, with additional support from the National Endowment for the Arts. The Project was designed to support established visual artists of merit who reside in the Atlanta metropolitan area. This initiative provides an unparalleled level of support for individual artists, expands MOCA GA's mission, and promotes Atlanta as a city where artists can live, work and thrive. Each year, MOCA GA selects three visual artists to receive the award. Among Atlanta's best and brightest, these artists are supported with an exhibition, a promotion, a studio assistant and a major monetary stipend to facilitate their work over the course of the year.
