Contemporary Arts Center App Explores Cincinnati through Shepard Fairey Murals
Obey the hunt! The CAC has launched two interactive games on the SCVNGR platform.
CINCINNATI, OH.- The Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) announces the first official interactive mobile application for exploring Cincinnati through art! The CAC is the first museum in the U.S. to use the cutting-edge, Google-endorsed SCVNGR technology to explore a city.

“We’re excited about this opportunity for our neighbors to have fun and engage with the CAC, and with contemporary art, in a very new way,” explains CAC Director Raphaela Platow . “We constantly strive to find new ways to bring the community together around art, and there has been a great outpouring of support for that. The Shepard Fairey opening in February was one of the most well-attended in CAC history and museum attendance has followed suit. THE EVENT, our annual fundraiser, was an enormous celebration—full of people from all over the city, of all ages and backgrounds, who gathered to support what we do. It demonstrates how much the unique benefits institutions like the Contemporary Arts Center offer enhance our city. And we are always looking for ways to do more of that.”

Platow says, “ Cincinnati is the perfect venue for something like this. With so many exciting things on the horizon, the future of a vibrant, creative Cincinnati has never looked brighter—and the CAC’s role in that has never been bigger. Our community has a lot to be proud of, and we hope that by offering a new way to explore this city, others will discover that too.”

FaireyTrek SCVNGR
Obey the hunt! The CAC has launched two interactive games on the SCVNGR platform. Broken into two treks, Downtown and Greater Cincinnati, explorers can choose to participate in either one or both treks. Played on a mobile phone, the game presents players with fun challenges related to the murals and locations around town. Players complete the challenges in order to earn points and rewards. Smartphone users can earn a unique FaireyTrek badge for the Downtown trek.

Downtown: This trek will explore the murals in Downtown and Over-the-Rhine. The starting location for this trek is at the CAC. Complete all of the challenges on this trek to receive a reward! Smartphone users can download the app from the iPhone App Store or Android Market, other users can text “downtownfaireytrek” to 728647.

Greater Cincinnati : This trek will explore all the Shepard Fairey murals outside of downtown Cincinnati – from Silverton to Covington to Westwood! The starting location for this trek is in Northside. Smartphone users can download the app from the iPhone App Store or Android Market, other users can text “greaterfaireytrek” to 728647.
