LOS ANGELES, CA.- Kopeikin Gallery announces their second exhibition with San Francisco based artist Andy Freeberg, whose series “Art Fare” is his third body of work dealing directly with the Art World.“ Art Fare” was photographed in 2009 through 2011 at Art Basel (Switzerland) Art Basel Miami, The Armory Show in New York and several “satellite fairs” taking place at the same time as the larger ones. The exhibition opens on Saturday, September 8th and continues through October 27

Gallery owners and their staff are usually hidden behind large entry desks (the subject of Freeberg’s body of work “Sentry”) and closed office doors. But at art fairs throughout the world they're in plain view. In their booths, as if on stage, you can see art dealers meeting with collectors, selling and negotiating, talking on cell phones, working on laptops, and manipulating touch screens in 21st century postures newly adapted for the latest electronic devices. These living dioramas, where the art world plays itself, are the most fascinating trade shows one could ever imagine, while at the same time being exactly like any other trade show where people spend way too long on their feet trying to make a buck.

Freeberg is best known for his series “Guardians” (about the women who guard the art in Russian museums. ) currently on view at Stanford University’s Cantor Arts Center and published in 2010. He was born in New York City and alternates his commercial assignment work with personal projects.
